Belize benefits from rapidly growing tourism industry and the hotel industry has created over 4,000 jobs in the areas of hospitality, accounting, management and maintenance. In 2008, There were 582 licensed accommodation properties which include all-inclusive luxury hotels, camp sites, ecotourism sites, guest houses and inns, most of which are found in Placencia, Cayo District and Ambergris Caye.

The Bird’s Eye View Lodge is one of the unique hotels in Belize City, and is a natural resort located at the Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuary, where over 250 different types of neotropical migratory or indigenous birds are found. The Great House is one of the most important historic buildings in Belize City and was built in 1927 by Belizean craftsmen. The Great House is a four-story wooden building that once served as a family home during British colonialism in Belize.
